Artist's Comments

2 hours. Second piece in the “Beyond the Clouds” scene series.

I’m not satisfied with the ice, but three paintings in one day–I call that a record.

The ice looks too polished to be out there in nature. It doesn't seem to reflect too much light and there's not enough texture. It's like an ice ring for polar bears, ahehahe. But I can still tell it's ice. The mountains also look a little chopped off at the summit, but maybe that's how you wanted it to be. The sky is still as beautiful as ever.

You've submitted so much work this last month, I feel like I'm slacking. Maybe my new year's resolution will be to enter more things!

It is indeed not ice found in nature. This is only shot from one perspective, but it's really a ring of ice which creates a lap. It's a skating rink but like most of the scenes, I've removed the figures (skaters in this case).

You're right, I never noticed that. I just checked back on my reference and they appear that way as well. I might go back and change it because it does seem a little awkward now that you've pointed that out.

It's the holidays and I only have a week left. I figure I better make the most of it =)
Thank you for all your comments and feedback throughout this little project!
